Steve
Hoffman began pumping the pedals on his family's player piano by the
time his feet could reach them, and soon after, began studying classical
piano with Mary Richards. As a teenager, he began writing his own music
and branching out into other styles, including ragtime, rock, and world
beat. He has since played, toured, and recorded with a wide array of
groups, including Inka Inka, the Fuel, Citizen X, Junglz Apart, Sonny
Okosuns, the Cardiff Reefers, souLatitude, and Mickey Thomas of Jefferson
Starship. He is currently continuing with his own musical writing, is
editing a cookbook compiling recipes from members of the music communit
entitled "The
Backstage Gourmet", and has recently been learning to play
the carillon--he can occasionally be found playing the bells at UC Berkeley.
